 Cattle mutilation is the apparently mysterious killing and (surgically precise) mutilation of cattle and other animals.
With a number of theories, earthly and un-earthly, having been put forward to answer this phenomenon, why are cattle mutilations still shrouded in mystery?

 Every year, on shorelines all over the world, many people discover numerous things that have washed up from the great leagues of the deep.
The St. Augustine Monster is an example of a mysterious "cryptid" that has divided Zoology and, for a time, mystified the world.  A sinister and hideous figure was said to stalk the streets of London in the 1800's, inciting fear due to reports of his supernatural abilities.
Described as being both 'devil-like' and 'gentleman-like' in appearance, was 'The Terror of London' one or more entities, and did he even exist?  With sauropods said to still roam jungles in Africa, and lake monsters speculated to be surviving aquatic dinosaurs, it's not surprising that tribes in New Guinea have reported seeing creatures resembling Pterosaurs, flying reptiles thought to have died out with the dinosaurs.
 Cryptozoology is not a recognized science in the mainstream world, but this study of "hidden" animals is starting to be acknowledged.
Mysterious creatures are constantly seen and reported around the world - is it time to start taking these accounts more seriously?  In August, 1955, a series of events occurred that would become known as the Kelly-Hopkinsville (Goblin) Case.
The main event occurred at the Sutton family farmhouse, where the members of two families were terrorised by strange goblin-like creatures during one fearful night.  For centuries, mariners have shared incredible tales of encounters with a creature said to be of gigantic size, and able to pull the strongest ships into the sea. Descriptions varied from crab-like to squid-like.
Is it myth, legend, or can science prove that there may be some truth to these tales?  October 7 - 13: A murderer is found guilty after losing a duel against his victims dog - A meteorite smashes into a 1980 Chevy Malibu in Peekskill, New York - Twenty cruisers fitted with high tech sonar equipment scan the depths of Loch Ness searching for the legendary monster.
 September 23 - 29: A woman is killed by an Irish cryptid 'water hound' while washing some clothes in a river - A Chinese farmer finds a large uncut diamond while preparing a chicken for his dinner - A cult leader kills one of his followers in a most cruelly bizarre way and gets life in prison.
 September 16 - 22: James "Jimmy" Carter, future President of the United States, files a UFO report "the darndest thing I've ever seen". - John W Webster, Captain of the SS Nestor, reports a sea monster in the Straits of Malacca - Angel Hair falls throughtout the day over Selbourne, England.
