Himeji Castle - Okiku's Well

​Himeji Castle is the largest castle in Japan and is allegedly the location for one of Japan’s most famous ghost stories. 
A young, beautiful lady named Okiku was blamed for the loss of a plate - one from a set of ten, a valuable family treasure.
Okiku counted the plates again and again but could only find nine.

​The penalty was death.

The Leap Castle Oubliette

In the early 1900's, workmen cleaning out the haunted 'Leap Castle' in Ireland found an 'oubliette' - a deep hole in the floor with a room at the bottom - a place to send prisoners and forget about them.

Victor Noir - Fertility Symbol Tomb

The sculpted face on Victor Noir's tomb is incredibly realistic but looking closer you will notice something odd, that the area around his mouth is missing the patina of age that is present on (nearly) the rest of the monument…

A Night at Old Gladstone Gaol

I have stayed at Gladstone Gaol many times but this is the first time I have written about my experiences there.

Please note that this is not an investigation report as I was there to experience rather than question everything that took place. A bit of a break from working the paranormal, instead, this time, I just take the location in.

All photos of the gaol were taken the morning after.

The Witch of Joshua Ward House

In 1981, a historic house in Salem, Massachusetts, is purchased and converted into offices. At Christmas that year, a polaroid taken in the building caught something strange and quite frightening.

Uley Road Cemetery

Over time, a local prank can turn into an urban legend, and then into a 'real deal' ghost story.

Uley Road Cemetery is one such place, where nearby events may be the cause for its haunted reputation... at least for one of the stories.

Still, this place creeps out many who visit it.

It is said that cleaners and other night time staff have suddenly requested a transfer or resigned from their jobs after a night shift in this building.

A suggested reason for this is that they may have come across one of the ghosts of this once girls orphanage...
