The Tantanoola 'Tiger'

The paranormal is not just ghosts and hauntings, there are many other aspects, one of which is Cryptozoology.

The 'Tantanoola Tiger' is allegedly one such 'cryptid', but as you can see, it is no tiger at all.

The 'Tantanoola Tiger' is, as you can see, no tiger at all. However in the late 1800s it did put the fear into people in the Tantanoola area (between Millicent and Mount Gambier). Thought to be a Bengal Tiger escaped from a circus, the 'Tantanoola Tiger' was blamed for sheep going missing in the area.

After eleven years this animal was shot as it was thought to be the Tiger of legend... and it turns out not to be a tiger at all. However what is mysterious in itself is that this animal is an Arabian Wolf which is also very much out of place. 

So not a tiger but rather a wolf along with much speculation how it ended up there (many people speculate that it was being transported on a ship which was wrecked with the wolf survivng).

It also turns out that man stealing sheep was possibly responsible for much of the missing livestock.

The 'Tantanoola Tiger' is on display in the Tantanoola (Tiger) Hotel.

This is an example of a cryptid, an animal thought to be extinct, made up or geographically out of place.
