Sedlec Ossuary - The Church of Bones

Sedlec Ossuary in the Czech Republic is also known as the "Church of Bones". When you enter the chapel, located beneath the Cemetery Church of All Saints, you will meet a rather macabre site. The entire chapel is decorated with millions of human bones, its centrepiece being a massive chandelier, made of every bone in the human body.

Why are there so many human remains at this location?
Why do they adorn the chapel in this way?

Ed Gein - The Plainfield Ghoul

On 16 November 1957 investigators were looking to solve the disappearance of Plainfield Hardware store owner, Bernice Worden. After a tip off Ed Gein became a suspect. Upon entering Gein's property, investigators found a womans decapitated corpse hanging upside down from the rafters in the shed.

It was when the police entered the old farmhouse that they found themselves in a scene of pure macabre depravity. One they would never forget...

The Exorcism of Anneliese Michel

Anneliese Michel died in her family home on 1st July, 1976 aged 23. For the previous ten months she went through more than sixty sessions of exorcisms to rid her body of the demon/demons said to have taken possession of her.

After refusing food and drink through a belief of atoning for the sins of youth Anneliese succumbed to malnutrition and dehydration.

Was it a true demonic possession or a medical disorder that afflicted her?

The Joelma building - A Haunting Tragedy

1 February 1974: Sao Paulo, Brazil wakes up to tragedy - one of its highrise buildings is a towering inferno. Of the 756 occupants in the building, more than half were injured, with 179 fatalities.

Was the land itself cursed with murder and suicide, like many said?  
What is 'the mystery of the 13 souls'?
What of the reports of hauntings which still exist throughout the building today?

Haunted by a Cursed Pearl

When Gerard Trower, the first Anglican Bishop of North, Western Australia, moved into his residence 'the Bishops Palace', he was not expecting it to be already occupied. Many believe it was the ghost of Abraham de Vahl Davis, a pearl trader, who had died only a few years earlier.

Was Davis's death caused by a pearl he had purchased prior to his passing?
Was it yet another in the string of tragedies credited to the 'Roseate Pearl'?

It is said that a young woman created, scanned and uploaded this picture shortly before she took her own life. The legend states that if you stare into the eyes you will not last five minutes before a feeling of intense sadness begins to overwhelm you.

Does the image change: a hint of a smile or deceit played out on the lips or maybe a smirk detectable in the eyes?
Can a spirit possess an image or is it just another story?

Tragedy at Luna Park

Luna Park Sydney opened October 4th, 1935. The park enjoyed roaring trade up until the 1950's when numbers declined, mainly due to the increased popularity of television.

But the park continued on, and in 1979 tragedy struck when a fire engulfed the ghost train killing seven, including two young boys. Some say there is an occult undertone to this event. Others say some of the spirits of those killed still remain on site.

The Pink Lady of Greencastle

The O'Hare Mansion in Greencastle, Indiana, now demolished to make way for a corn field, leaves behind a creepy memento as Guy Winters captures these shots before the buildings destruction.

The apparitions were not visible at the time, yet appear in Guy's photos.

A descendant of the O'Hare family noticed a strong ancestral resemblance to the apparitions in the photographs.

An Australian Poltergeist

In 1921 a series of disturbances began at the Bowen residence located just outside of Guyra, New South Wales, Australia. The disturbances took the form of knockings, rappings, falling rocks and smashed windows.

All activity seemed to take place in the vicinity of twelve year old Minnie Bowen who would become the scorn of the local community.
