 Pawleys Island, South Carolina, is home to quite a famous ghost - the 'Gray Man' who appears just before massive storms hit to warn those who see him of the impending disaster.
Those who heed the warning survive, as do their homes... Who is this 'Gray Man' of Pawleys Island?

 The Mothman is a bizarre creature, said to share our world, who many consider to be an omen of tragedy. It was seen many times before the tragic collapse of the Silver Bridge in to the Ohio River in 1967.
What is this 'bird-like man creature' with the red, glowing eyes?  Many prophets have made extraordinary claims and predictions about the fate of humanity and our world. Edgar Cayce, also known as 'The Sleeping Prophet', is believed by many to be one of the most gifted seers of all time...
... but there was more to Cayce than just predictions.  There are many stories of people dreaming or having a vision of a location before they ever set eyes on it.
For the owner of Oakabella Homestead this especially rang true as she literally purchased her dream home - a home full of history and the spirits of those passed.  In 1980 Stephen King in his novel Firestarter coined the term Pyrokinesis, or the ability to ignite and control fire by thought.
The fictional story was made soon after into a movie, but is this phenomena just a theme in popular fiction, or does it have a basis in reality?  "Automatic writing" is writing achieved without deliberation or conscious control. This can be through subconscious processes, or by acting as a medium for spirits or other supernatural forces.
The writer is generally not aware of the content of the writing until after the process is complete.  In 1848, strange 'rappings' were heard in the Fox family's Hydesville, New York, home. The rappings were capable of answering questions, through the number of knocks and taps they made.
It was soon believed that the Fox sisters, Kate and Margaret, were communicating with the dead.  Since the Sunnyvale Toys'R'Us store opened in the early 1970's, staff and customers have experienced a wide range of strange goings on! The photograph you see here was taken during a séance held at the store, for a television show that was looking into the haunting.
Taken with an infrared sensitive camera, the photo shows the seated group, together with a figure standing at the back, watching. No one present remembers seeing anyone standing during the séance, and other cameras shooting the same view all failed to capture this figure.  in 1898, Morgan Robertson released 'Futility', a short novel that detailed the voyage of the 'Titan', an ocean liner which struck an iceberg in the North Atlantic Ocean and sank. Fourteen years later, the ocean liner RMS Titanic hit an iceberg in the North Atlantic Ocean and sank.
There are many parallels between the two events, that stretch much farther than just a similar name and similar locations. Did 'Futility' predict one of histories greatest maritime disasters? |
