 Gloria Ramirez died tragically, at the General Hospital, Riverside, California. Her death is a mystery, with many theories surrounding it. She is known as the “toxic lady”, as others in the hospital became ill when close to her.
Her remains are buried in an unmarked grave.

 There are many stories of people dreaming or having a vision of a location before they ever set eyes on it.
For the owner of Oakabella Homestead this especially rang true as she literally purchased her dream home - a home full of history and the spirits of those passed.  Strange animals, people running out in front of cars to suddenly disappear, an eyeless man on crutches... these are just some of the experiences that terrify people travelling along the A75 Kinmount Straight.
This reputation gave rise to its nickname 'The Ghost Road'.  October 28 - November 3: Orson Welles panics a nation as his all too real 'The War of the Worlds' radio play goes to air. - Harry Houdini dies a much agonising death. - A group of not very geographically educated convicts, attempts to walk from Australia to China, in a bid for freedom.
 This photo, taken in early January, 1929, shows the top of the inner staircase at the Fanham Wood Mill in the United States. Builder, Robert Walsh, took the photo as he was renovating the stairs and he did not see, hear or feel anything out of the ordinary, though he believed his dog was acting a liitle strange at the time.

These words were spoken by William Nichols when identifying the body of his ex-wife, Mary Ann Nichols, who was viciously murdered in an alleyway of Whitechapel, London, in the early hours of 31 August, 1888.  The woods, especially at night, can be a mysterious place, home to many creatures, beasts... and possibly more. There are those who claim to have experienced a sudden panic and anxiety, that bordered on terror, during stays in the wild places.
Have you experienced this?  It is not known exactly how many people died on North Brother Island during its time as an isolation and quarantine hopital, but we do know more than one thousand people lost their lives when a steamboat sank just off its shore.
The island and buildings now stand abandoned.  Martindale Hall was built for pastoralist Edmund Bowman Jr. but due to drought, this Georgian style mansion was bought by the Mortlock family, who saw much tragedy and death befall their young.
It is believed that at least one of those childen continues to call Martindale Hall home. |
