Ghosts of the Past - An Evening with Alison Oborn
Born into a haunted house, Alison's life was full of questions and in 1989 she decided to find answers to those questions by researching the paranormal. Setting up a team, Paranormal Field Investigators (PFI), Alison quickly became one of the head researchers at the Adelaide Gaol which led to the writing of her book “Ghosts of the Past” which showcases 10 years of ghostly experiences there.
In her presentation Alison not only talks about the dark history, deaths and ghosts of Old Adelaide Gaol but will also cover stories relating to Adelaide's first Gaol, first executions, the macabre history of the old Police Barracks / Armoury, and the stories that have come out of Government House.

Old Police Barracks / Armoury
The venue for this presentation will be the Old Police Barracks / Armoury located behind the South Australian Museum. This beautiful building ties in very thematically with the presentation - a beautiful place to learn about some macabre history and a location with more than a few spooky stories of its own.
To access the venue, head to North Terrace and take the small alley that runs between the South Australian Museum and the South Australian Art Gallery. From there you can not miss it. |

Ghosts of the Past - Special Offer
In 2002 P.F.I. were lucky enough to be invited into the Adelaide Gaol to see if rumours of hauntings there could be verified. She quickly became a volunteer tour guide at the Adelaide Gaol, which has long been associated with anecdotal accounts of unexplained events and even operated her own tours there with Adelaide's Haunted Horizons. She is still there 12 years later!
In late 2010, Alison released this book recounting her team members and her own experiences in the Adelaide Gaol both as a tour guides and as objective researchers. Alison is a serious researcher who will always try to seek explanations for the phenomena she encounters with common sense and scientific methodology. As the book highlights, though, there have been many occurences which defy simple explanation.
Ghosts of the Past was not intended to be a methodical 'how to' book, instead it hopefully takes the reader on an adventure of discovery. It is about storytelling... although all the stories that are told are true and were very real to the people experiencing them at the time. At the end of the day the author allows the reader to make of these stories what they will.
At this presentation event Alison will have copies of 'Ghosts of the Past' for sale at a special price PLUS you can get it signed by the author in person!
