 We are taught that the Earth is made up of different layers. But did you know there is a theory gaining popularity which questions this?
One which suggests that what lies underneath may be more than can ever be imagined - a whole other world located inside our own.

 At around Christmas time 1900, on a remote island, three men - Thomas Marshall, James Ducat and Donald Macarthur - disappeared without a trace.
Local legends and superstition claim the island has a long history of being connected to the world of the supernatural.  Cattle mutilation is the apparently mysterious killing and (surgically precise) mutilation of cattle and other animals.
With a number of theories, earthly and un-earthly, having been put forward to answer this phenomenon, why are cattle mutilations still shrouded in mystery?  Every year, on shorelines all over the world, many people discover numerous things that have washed up from the great leagues of the deep.
The St. Augustine Monster is an example of a mysterious "cryptid" that has divided Zoology and, for a time, mystified the world.  In late January 1959, a group of hikers began their expedition to the remote Mt Otorten in the Northern Ural Ranges. When the group failed to return a search party was sent out, and what they discovered is still talked about today.
An enduring mystery, but has it been solved?  January 13 - 19: 21 people are killed and 150 injured as a wave of molasses tears through a neighbourhood. - An English haberdasher is fined for breaching the peace and disturbing the balance of society... due to his hat. - A farmer finds a 'UFO nest' in Queensland, Australia.
Three unrelated stories of a strange, unusual or dark nature.  Throughout the modern age of ufology there have been a multitude of varied encounters with alien entities reported, with some defying convention by having a saucy and raunchy twist.
The encounter Brazilian farmer Antonio Vilas-Boas had in 1957 is one such event.  January 6 - 12: A strange organic mass washes up on Four Mile Beach, Tasmania. - A South African council worker escapes from a pythons grasp... by biting it. - A strange man, speaking a strange language, holding a strange book, appears in East Anglia.
 The Darwin Awards are named after Charles Darwin and “recognise individuals who have supposedly contributed to human evolution by self-selecting themselves out of the gene pool via death…”.
In other words, they are about some of the stupid ways people have died.  December 30 - January 5: King William III introduces the 'window tax' causing a strange change to many buildings. - French mathematician Urbain Jean Joseph Le Verrier hypothesises another planet in our solar system. - The first traffic signal explodes injuring the operator.
