- bipedal entities said to be taller than a human, covered in thick hair and in most reports having a strange odour.

 Around the globe many people claim to have had encounters with gigantic spiders - spiders that in some cases are larger than dogs and capable of dragging away a human.
Are these monsters freaks of nature, a species thought to be extinct or works of wild imaginations?  A Toyol / Tuyul is the twisted spirit of a small child who passed away before being born.
Through ritualistic practices and black magic a witch doctor can invoke the spirit and bind it to an owner. A Toyol is used to run errands, create mischief, steal riches and (rarely) murder.  Since medieval times, the concept or idea of the werewolf - said to be a person with the ability to shapeshift into a wolf / human hybrid, after being placed under a curse or being bitten by another werewolf - has terrified and intrigued generations of people all over the world.
 The wild woods of Chiloé island make up the home of the Trauco, who lives there with his wife, Fiura.
Although Trauco and Fiura are said to be quite ugly - short with large noses and beady eyes - they have the power to present as more alluring to anyone they desire.  A creature similar to the great white, but far exceeding its known size and weight, has been reported in the Sea of Cortez for years.
It is this one beast that has come to be known as 'The Black Demon', that has locals scared, for it is thought this creature has a taste for human flesh.  The term "Thunderbird" comes from the name used by many Native American communities to describe either a single creature, or a species of bird, regarded as a supernatural beast of great strength - large enough and capable enough to attack, and take off with a human.
 Ever had a bit too much to drink, lost all inhibition and took off your clothing, to bare your all to the watching world, only to regret it later?
In the middle ages people blamed demons for their many different troubles, Sitri being the culprit for public nudity amongst other things...  The Laestrygonians are said to be eight-foot-tall cannibal, human eating giants. They were said to have lived on the island of Lamos, in a city called Telepylos.
Their name was derived from the Greek words laisêion, “raw hide” or “skin” and trygaô, “to gather”.  Over time, a local prank can turn into an urban legend, and then into a 'real deal' ghost story.
Uley Road Cemetery is one such place, where nearby events may be the cause for its haunted reputation... at least for one of the stories. Still, this place creeps out many who visit it. |
