Was George Adamski in contact with beings not of this planet?
![]() In 1952, contactee George Adamski took this photograph of a 'Venusian' Scout Craft. The close up shows more detail of a UFO than ever before seen. Adamski, who claimed to have been in direct contact with an alien being, took the photo through a telescope after one such contact. Does the photo show a vehicle from another world? ![]() In mid-1917, Frances Griffiths and Elsie Wright borrowed a camera belonging to Elsie's father. The girls headed down to the stream which ran through the bottom of their families property, in Cottingley, West Yorkshire. When Elsie's father developed the photographic plate, it revealed an image of four fairies, playing and dancing around ten year old Frances. When the photograph's reached the public, the "Cottingley Fairies", as they are known, became some of the most famous photo's of their time. ![]() In a 1896 edition of 'Popular Science Monthly' David Starr Jordan, the president of Stanford University, published an article about a new form of photography. Sympsychography was the name of the new technique that allowed invisible brainwaves to be shown on a photographic plate. The first test of this new technique involved a person directing their thoughts of a cat towards a plate. When the plate was processed, the image of a cat was visible. However, not all was as it seemed... ![]() In 1971, Maria Gomez Camara noticed the image of a human face, formed on her kitchen floor. Terrified, she ordered her son and husband to destroy the concrete, and to replace it. Soon enough, a new face formed, which the Mayor of Bélmez then forbade anyone from destroying. Over time, new faces would develop and slowly evolve, with mouths and eyes widening and changing expression. For thirty years, the Faces of Bélmez have astonished investigators. Why were they appearing in this house? ![]() In 1862, William Mumler, a jewellery engraver, discovered a faint shadowy human figure standing next to him, upon developing a self portrait. The Spiritualist Church claimed it was the first photograph taken of a spirit, and before long, Mumler left his engraving job to become a full-time 'Spirit Photographer'. Within a year he was brought up on charges of fraud... What happened at the trial to allow both sides to claim a victory? ![]() In 1840 Hippolyte Bayard created his 'Self Portrait as a Drowned Man', a photograph with the claim of being the first to be staged (or hoaxed). It shows Bayard as a drowned man, propped up in a seated position, decay starting to appear on his face and hands. Although not a 'paranormal' photo we will be featuring a range of fake, fraud and hoax photos and thought it appropriate to start with the very first staged photograph. Plus it is a facinating piece of macabre history! |
