 Located in the scenic Belvedere Estate, in Kolkata, the National Library of India has a reputation of being one of the most haunted locations in the city.
Most people will experience disembodied footsteps but it is the long time staff and caretakers who have seen the mysterious apparitions.

It has also served as a courtroom, with many of the criminals who were condemned to death having their sentence carried out within the buildings walls. Little wonder this place is apparently very haunted!  A man escapes from a crashed lunatic asylum transport and begins several months of terrorising a small community in Virginia. He is eventually found but throws himself in front of a train.
Since his death, on the nights leading up to Halloween, he is seen in the area dressed in a bunny suit. This may sound somewhat corny but there may be some truth to this urban legend.  John Hooper, burned at the stake. Nelson Rockefeller, heart attack in the middle of an illicit union. Gouverneur Morris, stuck a whale bone up his penis – these are “Strange Deaths in History”.
A glimpse at the lives and deaths of some who have come before us.  In this photo, taken on a mobile phone, you can clearly see the little girl in the foreground is upset. She refused to join the rest of the group as "the other child was scaring her". This puzzled the group as no other child was present at the time - then, after the photo was taken, they discovered a ghostly extra down at their legs. Fact or Fiction? You decide!
 Originally designed as a sanatorium to accommodate the escalating numbers of tuberculosis patients, Beelitz-Heilstätten was then used as a military hospital for the Imperial German Army, and then the Soviet Army.
Later, a hunting ground for at least two killers, the abandoned structures slowly falling into ruin, are now said to be haunted.  July 1 - July 7: Aviator Amelia Earhart and her navigator Fred Noonan go missing, as they attempt a circumnavigational flight of the globe - Chinese astronomers observe a supernova visible during the day - and Mary Surratt is the first woman executed by the U.S. federal government.
